Maurizio Nannucci is one of the world’s most important neon artists. He combines language, light and space to create poetic situations. His “You can imagine the opposite” on the façade of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich, is exemplary. Since 1965, Maurizio Nannucci (born 1939) has taken part in all important exhibitions on the subject of “text and image”. He has participated in documenta 8 and several biennials in Venice, Sydney, São Paulo and Istanbul. International exhibition venues such as Villa Arson Nice, Kunstmuseum Aarhus, Sprengel Museum Hanover, Vienna Secession and most recently the Fondation Beyeler have shown his work.

In collaboration with well-known architects such as Mario Botta, UBS Basel, Ulrike Lauber, Vereinte München, Stefan Braunfels, Alsenblock Berlin, extraordinary “art in architecture” realizations have been created. A bibliophile overview of his work was published in 1999 on the occasion of his exhibition at the European Patent Office in Munich.

Maurizio Nannucci’s works are represented in numerous renowned collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. His most recent significant exhibitions include his participation in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2023 in Milan, where Nannucci presented a site-specific neon artwork that will subsequently be installed at the Polytechnic of Milan to emphasize the importance of education and creativity. Another notable exhibition was “Red Line” 2023 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
