After being present for almost 50 years in the international art world, Günther Uecker (* 1930) is one of the most successful and also most popular artists in the German post-war scene. Uecker’s name is inseparably connected with the legendary ZERO Group.
He participated in the documenta in Kassel three times. In 1971 he represented Germany at the Venice Biennale. He arranged his largest retrospectives at the Zentrales Künstlerhaus in Moscow in 1988, at the Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts in Vienna in 1992, and at the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung in Munich in 1993. Uecker has created many stage designs for Bayreuth, Stuttgart, and Berlin. He designed the very impressive oratory in the renovated Reichstag in Berlin. He received one of the most renowned art prizes, the Kaiserring of the city of Goslar, in 1983. Uecker is a member of the order “Pour le Mérite”.
Since the beginnings of our gallery we have been closely working together with Günther Uecker and have organized among exhibitions of our own many international appearances for him.
