Anselm Reyle (b. 1970 in Tübingen, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. Since 2009 he has been Professor of Painting/Drawing at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg.
Reyle’s work operates at the intersection of painting and sculpture. His practice is characterised by the use of industrial materials and found objects such as metallic foils, mirrors, and neon, as well as materials and remnants of consumer culture, which are removed from their original context and reconfigured within his compositions.
His work has been presented in numerous institutional exhibitions worldwide, including XPM Museum, Changsha (2024); MoCA Westport, Connecticut (2023); Kunsthalle Vogelmann, Heilbronn (2022); Aranya Art Center, Qinhuangdao (2020); Deichtorhallen Hamburg (2012); and Kunsthalle Zürich (2006). Works by Anselm Reyle are held in major international collections, including Centre Pompidou, Paris; Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris; Pinault Collection, Venice; Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin; Saatchi Gallery, London; and Leeum / Samsung Museum of Modern Art, Seoul.
