When does art begin to “work”? Is it the moment in which a material finds its form, or the moment in which the viewer’s own questions are reflected in the work?
In their joint practice, Levan and Irakli Svanishvili, both graduates of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, present “Zwischenräume”, those indeterminate zones in which the usual order of reality is shaken. Their collaboration is far more than an addition of two positions; it is an interdisciplinary symbiosis that is deeply rooted in their shared Georgian biography and a common aesthetic vocabulary.
