cordy ryman wait and see 12.11.2019 - 25.01.2020

Cordy Ryman works in the border area between painting and sculpture. He builds his image carriers exclusively from found objects, everyday utility materials and building materials, preferably made of wood. ‘I love materials and keep everything. The fact that they carry their own story makes them even more interesting’, says Cordy. That’s why he likes to use the remnants of previous projects or ‘recycle’ old objects from his own studio. His work process is a continuous cycle of finding, producing, revising, disassembling and reassembling. Ryman works very spontaneously and reacts to form and materiality. He saws and paints a variety of ‘building blocks’ and merges them into vibrant, colorful objects and reliefs. In the current exhibition, the often small-format individual works form a large-scale installation. ‘Wait and see’ is Cordy Ryman’s second solo show at the Walter Storms Galerie.
