Sean Scully, born in Dublin in 1945, has created one of the most extensive bodies of work since the 1970s, which continues to shape the contemporary geometric abstraction to this day.
Numerous thematic and retrospective exhibitions with academic publications in major museums on all continents confirm Scully’s reputation as one of the world’s most important painters.
After opening the new location of the Walter Storms Gallery in 2009, Scully now returns to Munich’s Schellingstraße with a third solo exhibition, presenting the monumental painting “Red Chamber” alongside a rare early work featuring linear structures and more recent paintings.
Scully lives in the Hudson Valley, New York, and works in his studios in London, Berlin, and Mooseurach near Munich.
