“”DoubleD SpaceS” shows new works from my two architecture-related series “New Architectures” and “Transhistorical Places”. The focus here is on a pictorial representation of the double-meaning of each space – outside and inside, closed or open – , thus also referring to psychological factors of perception.
In some of the paintings I used a kind of cubist compositional technique, which allows to show different views of a building at the same time. In other paintings I combine iconic (brutalist) architecture with forms and gestures from 20th century concrete art, because both are united by their utopian impetus: the hope for a better future.”.
