With Arcade, Walter Storms Galerie presents a solo exhibition by Canadian artist Shannon Finley (b. 1974 in Ontario, Canada). Featuring twelve new paintings alongside a selection of new works on paper, the exhibition continues the artist’s exploration of color, form, and geometric abstraction.
Finley’s distinctive visual language moves between traditional painting and digital aesthetics. Rather than using brushes, the artist works with spatulas, masking tape, and stencils to create complex geometric compositions. Interlocking shapes, precise lines, and overlapping layers of color merge into dynamic pictorial spaces. Vibrant color contrasts and rhythmic structures create a compelling interplay between order and dissolution, surface and depth. The seemingly digital precision of his works stands in contrast to their entirely analog process of creation.
Shannon Finley studied in Halifax and New York. His work has been exhibited internationally, most recently at the Mies van der Rohe Haus in Berlin, among others. The artist lives and works in Berlin.
